This project saved the Bray House, one of the state’s oldest surviving structures, built circa 1720. The house had received thoughtless slap-dash additions repeatedly throughout the 20th century, masking the historic structure. We proposed to dismantle the non-contributing additions, allowing the Bray to become an active central hub that connects the Main + Guest Wings as separate and distinct additions joined by glass links. By doing so, a single structure remained on the sight per zoning requirements. I was responsible for all phases of the project including the historic research of the property, authoring the Treatment Plan, coordinating all consultants and presenting at public planning and site meetings to gain approval for the project. I was fortunate to work with a teammate who painstakingly created a 3d model and CD set for the rehabilitation of the Bray.
